"To create a community where friendships are paramount and family is always welcome. A community where residents experience pride of place and a sense of ownership and purpose, where activity involvement is encouraged, peace and privacy is respected and where old-fashioned country values reign."
Swan Hill Village envisages that its residents will experience a sense of belonging in their community; a sense of acceptance, regardless of their age, sex, appearance, religion, or disability; a sense of respect and being valued as well as the right to be treated with respect and dignity.
Peace and serenity can easily be associated with Swan Hill Village, as it is a community where residents not only have a sense of pride in their homes, but also in the communal facilities. It is envisaged that residents could be involved in the maintenance and upkeep of some Village facilities and take ownership of the garden areas.
As with any community, individuals have their own special talents, skills and experience that can contribute to the fabric of the community. Swan Hill Village provides clear structures and avenues for residents to contribute these talents, making it a vibrant, fun and enjoyable place to live where residents are encouraged to organise, participate and manage many activities, outings and social gatherings – giving residents a sense of purpose.
Adjacent to Swan Hill Village is the Alcheringa Hostel, a 74-bed Aged Care Facility. It provides an option for residents, if needed, to utilise services based on the Commonwealth Assessment Process for entry into this facility.
In total, there will be four levels of accommodation available at Swan Hill Village including: independent living homes, independent living units and two levels of Residential Aged Care. This provides for a continuum of care, the first of its kind in Victoria.
