Swan Hill is a beautiful, picturesque rural city in North-Western Victoria that is located in the heart of the Murray Valley on the banks of the glorious Murray River. It was named in 1836 by explorer, Major Thomas Mitchell, following a sleepless night camped on a rise near a flock of noisy swans. Swan Hill is now a productive and thriving modern city and is home to nearly 12,000 people.
Swan Hill combines the relaxed lifestyle and friendly, community spirit of traditional rural life, with community services, facilities and conveniences of a much larger urban centre. A diverse range of entertainment options for all ages and interests, include restaurants, cinemas, theatre, pubs, clubs and sporting facilities.
Transport to, from and within the region is extensive with local bus and taxi services, daily bus and train services to and from Melbourne, Bendigo, Sydney and Adelaide and a high standard provincial airport.
Bathed in sunshine the region enjoys a warm, dry climate with almost 300 rain free days each year.
